Our complete support for your timely and optimum recovery begins from the time your appointment is booked.
We coordinate and liaise with the experts required to treat your injury. This usually involves a Specialist Plastic Surgeon, an accredited Hand Therapist , and may also include radiology, hospitals and insurers.

Fees
An initial consultation fee will be charged for your appointments with a Specialist Plastic Surgeon and an Accredited Hand Therapist. This fee will be confirmed when we receive your booking information and will be payable in advance.

1. Is This An Emergency?
If your hand injury is a medical emergency dial 000 or attend your local hospital emergency department. Keep your injured limb elevated and supported on a pillow and apply ice whilst you are waiting to see a Doctor.

2. Book your appointment
Once you have had an initial medical assessment and your injury is deemed not to be an emergency, you can make an online booking for the Hand Injury Service.
Once we receive your booking request we will call you to confirm your appointment, and collect any further information we require to prepare for your appointment.
For booking requests received overnight or over the weekend, we aim to contact you by 10am the next business day. You can also call us from 8:30am.

3. Attend Your Appointment
Your initial consultation will take place in Randwick with a Specialist Plastic Surgeon and / or an Accredited Hand Therapist (as awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association) who will undertake a thorough assessment and develop an expert evidence-based treatment plan.
We may suggest investigations such as X-rays prior to your appointment and if we do we will help you to organise them.

4. Ongoing Support
We will coordinate the ongoing expertise and care you require to help you restore the function in your hand to enable your optimum return to work, sports, hobbies and everyday activities.
Your treatment plan may involve a combination of: • surgery
• casting and / or splints
• scar care
• a tailored exercise program.If surgery is recommended we can help coordinate all parties involved in your surgery – the hospital, anaesthetist and any insurers .
